Information on the procedure and implementation of measles immunity in accordance with § 20 IfSG

Since 1 March 2020, the law for protection against measles and to strengthen vaccination prevention (Measles Protection Act) has been in force.
It obliges children in care and staff in community facilities as well as employees in medical and care facilities who were born after 31 December 1970 to provide proof of adequate measles protection. Volunteers, trainees or members of service companies must also provide this if they regularly work in the facilities.
The German Measles Protection Act requires at least one measles vaccination before the age of one and at least two vaccinations before the age of two. All older children and adults without two vaccinations are recommended to catch up on these as soon as possible or to provide proof of the corresponding antibody titre or a medical certificate confirming the existence of a medical contraindication to the measles vaccination.
Proof must be provided to the head of the facility. If such proof is not provided or if there are doubts about the authenticity or accuracy of the submitted proof, the facility management must forward the personal data to the Office for Health and Prevention of the City of Chemnitz.
These persons will be requested by the Office for Health and Prevention to submit proof of immunity against measles within a period of four weeks. If, despite the request, no proof is provided within the specified deadlines, the Office of Health and Prevention may impose a ban on entry or activity.
The facility managers must notify the Office for Health and Prevention exclusively via the online form. Only persons who have not submitted any or incomplete proof must be reported. Persons can also be reported if there are doubts about the proof submitted.
An initial registration is required to use the online form. The following steps must be followed for the initial registration for the City of Chemnitz registration portal:
- Click on the link below to register for the first time.
- Carry out the organisation-specific registration.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail. Confirm your password and keep the facility-specific link to the registration portal in a safe place.
- Register the persons via the institution-specific link to the registration portal.
For procedural reasons, notifications sent to the Office for Health and Prevention by email, fax or post cannot be taken into account, including notifications that have already been submitted.
The e-mail address masernschutz(at)stadt-chemnitz.de can be used for questions from the facility managers.
