Tuberculosis care

Even today, tuberculosis is a serious infectious disease that can occur at any age. Not only the lungs, but also other organs can be affected.

It is the task of the health authorities to protect the population from infection and further spread, to identify sources of infection and routes of spread, to initiate disinfection measures and to carry out tuberculin tests, bacteriological and X-ray examinations.

Sufferers and contact persons receive

  • free and confidential counselling and support,
  • Counselling on legal and social problems,
  • help with problems during inpatient or outpatient treatment and
  • home visits

The staff at the Office for Health and Prevention

  • receive and process reports of TB infections. There is a reporting obligation under the Infection Protection Act,
  • advise tuberculosis patients and their relatives and monitor treatment in co-operation with doctors in private practice and hospitals,
  • identify the contact persons of patients and invite them for check-ups,
  • provide professional advice to clients, citizens and medical staff.
