Chemnitz inclusive: Fields of action

Field of action Housing

By 2030, we want to ensure that all people, regardless of their disability or age, can freely choose where and how they want to live in Chemnitz. There is a wide range of freely selectable forms of housing for shared, self-determined living. Inclusive housing in all neighbourhoods is a planning principle in the city's housing concept and urban development plans. The owners are actively involved in the provision of inclusive housing as providers. Many barriers in housing have been removed in line with demand and the proportion of barrier-free housing has also increased outside of residential centres. The city administration and the local housing industry, in cooperation with advice centres and support services for outpatient care and assistance, offer all people access to a life in self-determined forms of housing at all stages of life.

Goals:

  1. Transparency and awareness-raising about structural requirements for inclusive housing and an inclusive living environment
  2. Creation of low-barrier, barrier-free and wheelchair-accessible housing and inclusive neighbourhoods by facilitating investments and providing outpatient housing with assistance
  3. Updating the planning principles and planning specifications for the existing stock and demand for inclusive housing and inclusive social spaces
  4. Improve and qualify housing counselling and assistance services for self-determined living for older and disabled people and for housing providers
  5. Active participation of politicians and the urban community in the implementation of joint guidelines on inclusive housing in Chemnitz

Easy language:

1.
Everyone must be able to choose how they want to live.
People with disabilities often need
a home without obstacles.
This is a barrier-free flat.

2.
More barrier-free flats are needed.
The living environment must also be good.
More should be done for this.

3.
Barrier-free living is good.
The neighbourhood must also be barrier-free.
Then everyone can take part in life.

4.
How do I want to live?
How can I live?
There are advice centres for this.

5.
Everyone can decide for themselves how they want to live.
And how they want to live.
