The "Masterplan Tierpark Chemnitz 2030+" adopted by the city council (resolution no. B-278/2018) provides for a comprehensive modernisation and increase in the attractiveness of the facility.

The planned expansion of the target groups and the catchment area to the region and the expected increase in visitor numbers to around 250 - 300,000 visitors per year following the implementation of the masterplan are expected to lead to a significant increase in visitor traffic.

The Masterplan Tierpark Chemnitz 2030+ does not make any statements on the traffic development of the zoo and the safety of stationary motor vehicle and bicycle traffic. There are already considerable complaints from local residents about the high volume of traffic / people looking for parking spaces / blocked road areas caused by visitors to the zoo.

For this reason, the City of Chemnitz has commissioned the development of a traffic concept for the Tierpark as part of the Masterplan 2030+.

The process and the results of this traffic concept will be published here on an ongoing basis. You are welcome to send your comments and suggestions via the Internet address tierpark-chemnitz(at)vcdb.de.
