Infection protection
Handling food - Health passport

Persons who come into direct contact with the foodstuffs listed in § 42 Para. 2 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG) (commercially produce, treat or place foodstuffs on the market) must provide proof that they fulfil the health requirements of §§ 42 and 43 IfSG. Furthermore, persons who regularly work in kitchens in restaurants and other catering establishments also require such a certificate. This proof is provided in the form of an instruction.
After the instruction, which is now carried out as online training, each participant receives a certificate in the form of an A4 sheet for the initial instruction. The further instructions required must be carried out by the respective employer. The certificate according to § 43 IfSG is valid for life and must not be older than three months before the first start of work.
The prerequisite for participation is residence in Chemnitz and a valid identity document (identity card or passport). The fee is 37 euros according to the Saxon list of costs.

Pick-up times:
Thursday 14 .00 to 17.00
Friday 08 .00 to 10.00 a.m.
When you start work (whether for the first time or repeatedly), the employer must check the validity of the certificate and inform you of the activity bans and obligations specified in Section 42 IfSG. The first employer or the internship organisation must also confirm the first commencement of work on the verification sheet.
Employers are obliged to provide employees with follow-up instructions every two years (Section 43 (4) IfSG).
A new instruction is not necessary when changing employer if an old and valid certificate (commencement of employment within three months and confirmed by the employer) is available. The certificate is valid indefinitely. It remains valid even if you have not been employed in the food sector for a long period of time.
This is because: When an employee joins or rejoins a company, the employer must inform them of the provisions of Section 42 (1) and (2) IfSG. They must also repeat this every two years thereafter. The last instruction and proof of the initial instruction by the health authority must be kept by the employer. The proof should be handed over to you at the end of your employment.
Certificates in accordance with the Federal Law on the Protection against Epidemics remain valid.
If you can no longer find the certificate of instruction, check whether the document may have remained with a previous employer and have it reproduced. It may be possible for the document to be restored as a duplicate by the health authority that issued it at the time. It is also possible to apply for a duplicate if proof is required for several employers or if a reissue is required due to changes in personal details. A fee is charged for this. If the original is no longer available or a duplicate cannot be produced (in accordance with the retention periods for local authorities, the retention period for your personal data for issuing the proof of instruction is ten years), you would have to register again for an online training course.
A duplicate can be requested by e-mail (e-mail to gesundheitspass(at)stadt-chemnitz.de).
