VEP 2040 - Current update process

The update to the updated VEP 2040 was started in 2017/2018 with the evaluation of the currently valid VEP 2015. The evaluation documents the implementation status of the objectives and measures affected by the VEP 2015 and adopted in 2006. It provides statements on their impact and provides information on updating the VEP. The report was compiled by the Transport Planning Department of the Civil Engineering Office. It forms the prelude to the updating of the transport development plan.

A planning horizon of approx. 20 years for the year 2040 was defined for the new VEP to be drawn up. This seems suitable for applying the proposed approaches and recognising their impact.

The content of the current draft for the VEP 2040 has been developed in a co-creative process since the beginning of 2019. The concerns, suggestions and comments from the extensive participation formats were incorporated into the development of this draft of the VEP 2040 and publicly discussed with Chemnitz citizens and stakeholders.
