VEP 2040 - What is it and why?

The transport development plan, or VEP for short, is the transport model for Chemnitz and is intended to answer the question of how mobility and transport should develop in Chemnitz. It thus guides and controls municipal transport policy and transport planning.
The current VEP 2015 - adopted in 2006 (B-069/2006) - describes the intended development up to the forecast year 2015. Since then, numerous measures have been implemented and new ideas devised. In addition, global, national and local framework conditions have changed or are currently undergoing change.
All of this is reason enough to update the VEP and thus prepare municipal transport policy and transport planning for future challenges.
The update is due to be completed in autumn 2021 with the adoption of the VEP 2040.
