Lohse-Uhlig-Steig
Intervention area for Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain

The public square for Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain is an approx. 10 km long themed circular hiking trail around the village of Kleinolbersdorf-Altenhain. Ten stations along the Lohse-Ulig-Steig provide information about the area and its history, as well as insights into natural areas and industrial history. In addition, the important namesakes of the circular trail and their work are presented, as well as offers to linger and leisure activities.

The "Lohse-Uhlig-Steig" project was an idea of the local citizens' association and is being driven forward with exemplary civic commitment. The results of several residents' surveys have been incorporated into the planning. An imaginative and energetic Capital of Culture 2025 working group has been formed and, thanks to the successful participation in NimmPlatz!, one station of the hiking trail was financed and realised as early as September 2022; the signposting of the hiking trail is also making steady progress. The official start of construction of the remaining stations is planned for autumn 2023.
Stations along the way

One of the most important stations is the leisure centre in the heart of Kleinolbersdorf. This is being renovated and will then be available for ball games such as basketball, volleyball and floorball. A hiker's hut will also be built at the entrance to the forest, inviting visitors to linger and enjoy the view of the FFH nature reserve.
In addition, two weather mushrooms with seating areas along the path invite you to linger. From the weather mushroom above Kleinolbersdorf, for example, the view opens up far into the countryside, including to Augustusburg Castle and the church of master builder Johann Traugott Lohse.
